Usain Bolt will be the star attraction at the Gatorade Bolt event in Sydney.
Sydney may be celebrating the 10th anniversary of the 2000 Olympics, but there's another event that will leave spectators in awe.
The fastest man in the world, Usain Bolt, arrived in Australia on Monday for a whirlwind promotional tour, which includes taking place in the Gatorade Bolt.
The Jamaican speedster gained a back injury at the back end of international
competition last year, but it is probable that he will compete in the event at Sydney Olympic Park Athletics Centre tonight. "I'm very excited to be in Australia. It was a long trip so I'm pretty tired," Bolt said upon his arrival in Sydney. Bolt will run the anchor leg for a relay team in the Gatorade celebrity 4 x 100m event. Seven other celebrities and 24 members of the public will have a rare opportunity to run on the same track as the world's fastest man. The Gatorade Bolt will seek to find the fastest football player in Australia and a $20,000 first prize is up for grabs to settle the score between the codes. Flyers such as Central Coast Mariners' Matt Lewis, Carlton's Kane Johnson, Wallaby Lachie Turner and NRL stars Greg Inglis, Josh Morris and the man nicknamed 'the Hayne Train', Jarryd Hayne. The night will start with a red carpet arrival graced by world-class athletes Dani Samuels, Fabrice Lapierre, John Steffensen and of course the man of the moment, Usain Bolt.
