Men’s Long Jump

World indoor champion Fabrice Lapierre will flyin his attempt to beat the 8.49 m Australian record ‘Jumping’ Jai Taurima created when he won the silver medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Only five men have jumped further than the Sydney-sider who soared 8.78m at the Commonwealth Games trials in Perth last April. However, because his jump was “wind assisted” it was unfortunately not included in the record books. Lapierre has starred in the lucrative Diamond League and has vowed to put a real show on at the Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre on September 15. Can he break that record? The crowd will be needed to create the atmosphere to help him soar. Competitive Edge will provide the DJ's and the dancers, Fabrice will provide the amazing athleticism. The crowd will be urged to help Fabulous Fabrice grow wings through their support.
