SPRINTER Tamsyn Lewis is gearing up for the biggest race of her life -- a run down the wedding aisle.

The drama queen of the athletics track has revealed she is engaged to Australian wicket-keeper Graham Manou.

The news comes just two weeks after Manou was sacked as South Australia's captain and a month after Lewis revealed that she would defend her 4 x 400m relay Commonwealth Games title in Delhi this year.

After months of secret planning, Manou finally proposed at a romantic beachside picnic.

"He'd been teasing me for months saying he had a present for me, and then he gives me this book," Lewis told New Idea. "[There was] page after page of beautiful words and loving thoughts. I was bowled over.

"And then the last two pages I was not expecting. [It said] Will you marry me?" The sprinter -- famed for her spat with Jana Rawlinson -- said she was stopped in her tracks and had trouble getting the words out to say yes.

"Finally I managed to say, `Yes, yes I will marry you'," she said.

It is a fairytale for the pair who have been dating since 2006 and have overcome major obstacles in their relationship, including living in separate states and competing in different countries.
