Idris had the opportunity to follow the same athletic path as world discus champion Dani Samuels, however he was attracted to league where this country music-loving player is among the code’s most charismatic NRL stars. Samuels’s coach Denis Knowles has invited Idris to attempt to become the first NRL player to compete at an Olympics.
