Women’s 100m hurdles Sydney’s champion Hayley Butler will oppose her Kiwi arch rival Andrea Miller in the race that will decide the hurdles Queen of Australasia. This will be the final big hit out for both athletes ahead of the New Delhi Commonwealth Games and it will be one of the night’s feature events. Butler, from Sydney’s south-west is Australian sport’s “wonder-mum”, having recommenced her athletic career after the birth of her first child, a little boy named Cooper. She qualified for the Australian team twice on the one day having competed in meets on the Queensland Gold Coast and then in Sydney on in the space of a few hours! She went on to win the Australian title and automatic team selection for Dehli, a long-cherished dream that she never gave up on. Hayley has a huge Sydney following while the New Zealand community is expected to support Andrea in this red hot battle. |
