True stardom came at the 2008 Olympics, when he became the first sprinter since Carl Lewis in 1984 to win three gold medals at one Games. The following year he broke his own records at the World Championships in Berlin, setting astonishing

Sprint star backs hot Hayne E-mail

League
May 30, 2010. The Sun-Herald

THE DASHERS Adrian Proszenko and Daniel Lane

OLYMPIC sprinter Melinda Gainsford-Taylor, now a Manly Sea Eagles board member, has weighed in to the "fastest man in league" debate by nominating a dreaded Eel - Jarryd Hayne - as the best of the NRL's speed breed.

The topic has become one of the code's most heated debates since The Sun-Herald revealed the race would be a feature event at Sydney's Athletic Centre on September 15. Gainsford-Taylor, who was the 1995 world 200m indoor champion, said despite belonging to her club's arch rivals, Hayne deserved to be the race favourite because, apart from his ability to generate power and "fly", his running technique ticked all the right boxes.

Get set for greatest race of all E-mail

Nick Walshaw
The Daily Telegraph. June 4th, 2010.

He's known as the game's most natural sprinter but Greg Inglis hadn't worn a pair of running shoes in his life, until last night, Nick Walshaw reports

GREG Inglis was barefoot the last time he raced over 100m.

"Yep, Year 9 at Macksville High,'' the Kangaroo superstar laughs. "We had a school carnival and I think I might've won that day. I know I definitely ran without shoes because that's the only way I've ever done it . . . never worn a pair of running spikes in my life.''
Widely regarded as the most naturally fluent sprinter in rugby league, Inglis has officially been granted lane one for a blockbuster dash that will finally end all water cooler, cyberspace and front bar debate over exactly who boasts the tag of NRL's Fastest Man.
Arriving in Sydney late yesterday for tonight's match against Parramatta, the Melbourne centre put on his first pair of spikes, practised his starts and later spent an hour touring the world-class Sydney Olympic Park facilities where he will be competing in September as part of the Competitive Edge Athletic All Stars meet.
